Toys At Christmas

(Yearly Special Project)
For families in financial difficulties, toys are considered luxury items yet they can be source of so much joy. FFTH is already helping some 1,700 needy families with basic food supplies so the next logical step was toys given during the festive season.
In 2007, we collected 14,000 items which we gave away to school children.
The collection drives at donor schools are toys drives WITH the active involvement of the students. The students will be asked to bring one of their own toys, rather than buying something. They will wrap it as a present and dedicate it to the right gender/age group of the unknown recipient. On top of that, FFTH will provide Dedication Cards that so that the students can write a personal meesage to their “unknown friend” who will be receiving the toy. The QC will also be done by the children with their teachers. By actively involving them, this community project will become more meaningful and we have the full support of the teachers.
The toys bring much joy to the needy pupils and children at 47 distribution points as well as the parents.
In 2006, Food from the Heart has been partnering with Mercedes Benz to have a 40 foot Toy Truck traveling around the island, in the first week of November and December, to distribute toys to children in welfare homes and distribution centres.
At some of our Self Collection Centres, FFTH organizes Christmas parties at their RC centre and Santa Claus is proudly handing out the presents / toys from Toy Drive.
