BREAD ELECTRONICALLY TRACKED ….
From the very beginning of our bread programe, we had sophisticated software in use which was developed and sponsored by FUJITSU Asia. Due to the delivery tracking system ‘FOOD – TREK’ we were able to ramp up our operations very quickly as it is virtually paperless and does not require extra staff to check the fulfilled missions. This makes the entire process extremely efficient and therefore, requires less manpower than it otherwise would.
How does it work?
Every volunteer upon collection of bread sends an SMS to our server stating the quantity of buns and loaves collected and where it is delivered.
Based on this information, on a daily basis, a report is generated which allows FFTH to track all pick ups and all deliveries as well as investigate any non-fulfillment. All this is handled by one individual – without this software, it would take a lot more staff to monitor and ensure that the donated food items are delivered to the correct places.
The system also enables us to determine the exact quantities of bread collected, so that we can register a total quantity collected per month.
Reports are checked on a daily basis (1 staff dedicated to Food trek), and overall reports are printed on weekly basis. The reports also verify all missed collections and state the reasons and actions taken. The system generates a report based on the weight of bread and the retail value. Based on 2006 reports, the retail value of the bread collected is $1,717,708.40.
Our thanks go to the team at Fujitsu Asia who customized the delivery tracking system to our needs and who still maintain the system for us. Their support over the past 4 years of our operation has proven to be invaluable! In fact, Fujitsu Asia won the e-Society Excellence Award issue d by IDA in 2005 for this.
Having such a sophisticated software supporting our operation from day 1, has certainly helped to build credibility for our organization as sponsors, volunteers and donors are reassured and heartened when they see the data generated.

We would like to say 'Special Thanks' to Philip Morris Singapore, who has been contributing generously to FFTH since our inception in February 2003. It is only fair to say that with their yearly contribution they have helped to ensure the continuity of our programmes to give bread and basic food items to needy families.
Philip Morris Singapore has realized the potential and impact of our initiative very early and was the first corporation to sponsor us. We salute them for sharing our vision to help the needy and thank them for their trust in us!
Philip Morris was one of the initial organizations that believed in the concept and their funds, ranging between S$50,000 and S$120,000 annually, especially in the early stages of the programme’s development breathed life into the venture. They held a strong belief in our mission and had the foresight to see the opportunities of our organisation in helping the needy and less fortunate in Singapore with food supplements. Without their annual contribution FFTH would not be where it is today – they are truly an 'anchor donor '!
On behalf of all needy families and residents in homes, we would like to say a heartfelt Thank You to Philip Morris.

GRAND HYATT SINGAPORE
One such partner is the Grand Hyatt that has been involved with FFTH since 2004. They give FFTH unsold bakery items for onward distribution to welfare homes etc. In addition, their staff also deliver a birthday cake every month to the Jamiyah Darul Ma’wa Children’s home to celebrate the birthdays of the children in that month. In addition, they have also provided freshly baked pastries and bread for family fun events which benefit our needy families
Mr. Willi Martin, Area Vice President of Hyatt International Hotels and Resorts and General Manager of the Grand Hyatt in Singapore remarked, "Our commitment with Food from the Heart is in line with Global Hyatt initiative, FORCE which stands for Family of Responsible & Caring Employees. FORCE provides opportunities for our employees to engage in local community outreach and volunteer efforts organised by Food from the Heart."
Added Christine Laimer, co-founder of FFTH, "The Grand Hyatt has been a great friend to us and very often, supports us in other ways as well. We would not have been able to achieve as much without their generosity and we are extremely grateful to both the management and staff. The Grand Hyatt was a real trail blazer for us – once they got on board, more hotels joined our cause as well."

Aviva, a giant in the insurance industry, has also been heavily involved with FFTH. Over the past three years, they have chosen Evergreen Primary School as their adopted school. Over the years, they have steadily increased the number of adopted families and currently, they are supporting 138 families annually.
"Food from the Heart stands out in their responsiveness and passion towards their cause in helping underprivileged children. Their Food Goodie Bag initiative is really an innovative way to reach out to needy children and their families." - Mr Shaun Meadows, CEO, Aviva Ltd, Singapore, Hong Kong and Middle East
